SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Steven J. Stella of East Peoria, who passed away on April 13, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Steven Stella was born in Peoria to Gary F. and Tera Lee Calvetti Stella on July 24, 1965; he graduated from Woodruff High School in 1984 and attended Illinois Central College; he married Cathy Dobbins in Peoria on October 2, 1993; and

WHEREAS, Steven Stella worked for the Peoria Park District for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Steven Stella was an active member and past deacon of the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria; he volunteered for several years as a Camp Dad for the Jump Start Gymnastics Team at its Flip Fest Summer Gymnastics Camp in Tennessee with his daughter, Abby; he could often be found lending a helping hand to a friend or neighbor in need; he always enjoyed visiting and getting to know the neighborhood children, who would often stop by to visit; and

WHEREAS, Steven Stella was preceded in death by his mother, Tera L. Calvetti, and his maternal grandfather, Dominic Calvetti; and

WHEREAS, Steven Stella is survived by his wife, Cathy; his daughter, Abby Stella; his father, Gary; his sister, Stefani Stella; his maternal grandmother, Jerry Calvetti; two nieces; and six nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Steven J. Stella, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Steven Stella as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
