| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Harold Bixen, who passed away on July 5, | 4 | | 2016; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Harold Bixen was born in Bunker Hill to Alvin and | 6 | | Alma (Zarges) Bixen on July 18, 1934; he was raised by his | 7 | | grandparents, William and Mary Bixen, after the death of his | 8 | | mother when he was six months old; he served in the United | 9 | | States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; he married Mary | 10 | | Aljets at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey on October 16, 1955; | 11 | | and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Harold Bixen worked at Alton Boxboard (Jefferson | 13 | | Smurfit Corporation); and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Harold Bixen was a volunteer fireman for the | 15 | | Dorsey Volunteer Fire Department; he was an active member of | 16 | | Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey; he enjoyed travelling, | 17 | | camping, and spending time with his family; he and his son, | 18 | | John, enjoyed building and renovating houses together; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Harold Bixen was preceded in death by his parents; | 20 | | his son, Robert Bixen; his sister, Alice Spickerman; and his | 21 | | sister-in-law, Esther Hoffstetter; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Harold Bixen is survived by his wife of 60 years, | 2 | | Mary; his daughter, Janet (David) Francis; his son, John Bixen; | 3 | | his daughter-in-law, Kara Bixen; his grandson, Lukas Bixen; his | 4 | | granddaughter, Brittany (Steven) Ginn; his | 5 | | great-grandchildren, Avrie and Hudson Ginn; his sister, | 6 | | Dorothy Spickerman; his sisters-in-law, Marguerite Fechte and | 7 | | Ruth Kuethe; and his brother-in-law, Frederick (Verline) | 8 | | Aljets; therefore, be it
| 9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | 10 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 11 | | Harold Bixen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 12 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
