SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gordon L. Ellis of Erie, who passed away on August 16, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was born on February 7, 1930, in Goshen, Indiana; his parents were LeRoy and Florence Clark Ellis; he married Marjorie Plumley on March 22, 1957 in Erie; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis served his country in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1952; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis retired from Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver in 1991 after many years of service; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was a train enthusiast and enjoyed his model trains in his basement; he was an avid gardener and loved taking care of his lawn; he also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to the Pink Pony for coffee and Russ's Cafe to play cribbage with the guys; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Stanley, Melvin, Bob, and Don; and

WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis is survived by his wife, Marjorie; his children, Sheryl Pequignot, Florence (Dan) Stevens, Carolyn (Steve) Elsik, and Scott (Angela) Ellis; his grandchildren, Craig (Sarah) Pequignot, Josh Pequignot, Andrew Pequignot, Erin (Coty) Shirk, Ryan (Jennifer) Stevens, Lucas Stevens, Alex Stevens, Briana (Aaron) Kapper, Caitlin (Jordan) Speigle, Candace (David) Lutton, and Ethan Ellis; and nine great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Gordon L. Ellis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gordon Ellis as an expression of our sympathy.
