SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gordon L. Ellis of Erie, who passed away
4on August 16, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was born on February 7, 1930, in
6Goshen, Indiana; his parents were LeRoy and Florence Clark
7Ellis; he married Marjorie Plumley on March 22, 1957 in Erie;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis served his country in the United
10States Navy from 1948 to 1952; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis retired from Consolidated
12Freightways as a truck driver in 1991 after many years of
13service; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was a train enthusiast and enjoyed
15his model trains in his basement; he was an avid gardener and
16loved taking care of his lawn; he also loved spending time with
17his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to the Pink
18Pony for coffee and Russ's Cafe to play cribbage with the guys;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was preceded in death by his parents

1and his brothers, Stanley, Melvin, Bob, and Don; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis is survived by his wife, Marjorie;
3his children, Sheryl Pequignot, Florence (Dan) Stevens,
4Carolyn (Steve) Elsik, and Scott (Angela) Ellis; his
5grandchildren, Craig (Sarah) Pequignot, Josh Pequignot, Andrew
6Pequignot, Erin (Coty) Shirk, Ryan (Jennifer) Stevens, Lucas
7Stevens, Alex Stevens, Briana (Aaron) Kapper, Caitlin (Jordan)
8Speigle, Candace (David) Lutton, and Ethan Ellis; and nine
9great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Gordon L. Ellis; and
13be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gordon Ellis as an expression of our
16sympathy.
