SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Irene Sherman of Gillespie, who passed away on August 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was born in Gillespie to George and Tena (Harms) Weidner on November 26, 1921; she married Roy S. "Sadie" Sherman in Edwardsville on October 18, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was a business woman in Gillespie for 75 years; she and her husband started SuperBowl of Gillespie in 1959; they also founded the Knights Inn Motel in 1975; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was a member of United Methodist Women, the United States Bowling Congress, and Royal Neighbors; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; her son, Robert D. Sherman; her sister, Aurela Weidner; and her brother, Harold Weidner; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Sherman is survived by her son, Roy W. (Vicki) Sherman; her daughter-in-law, Betty Sherman; her grandchildren, Kerri (Kent) Frensko, Brad Sherman (Tiffany Spudich), Robert (Elise) Sherman, and Brian (Dominique) Sherman; and her great-grandchildren, Brock Sherman, Dylan Frensko, CJ Frensko, and Rowan Spudich-Sherman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Irene Sherman, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Sherman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
