SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Tommy L. Palbitska of Waukegan, who passed away on October 11, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska was born in Cornell, Wisconsin to Louie and Theresa Palbitska on March 12, 1931; he served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a tail gunner, earning the National Defense Service Medal; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska retired from the Waukegan Post Office after 35 years of service; he delivered flowers for Larsen's Florist in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waukegan, where he served as an usher and a church trustee; he was a member of the Swedish Glee Club of Waukegan; he was active in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life from 2010 to 2013 and was a board member of the Postal Credit Union; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Palbitska; his brothers, Harold Sorenson, and Neva Cusimano; and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska is survived by his children, Pamela (Kenneth) Hassenplug, Randy Palbitska (Lynette Gilbert), Michael Palbitska, Katherine (Art) Goetz, and Lory (Doug) Adams; his grandchildren, Krista (John) McNamara, Ashley (Kenny) Knaus, Brendan Palbitska, Melissa Clark (Julio), John Adams, Brian (Alicia) Adams, and Steven Adams; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sorenson, and Ruby Hurlburt; and his brother-in-law, Don Hurlburt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Tommy L. Palbitska, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tommy Palbitska as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
