SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Tommy L. Palbitska of Waukegan, who
4passed away on October 11, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska was born in Cornell, Wisconsin to
6Louie and Theresa Palbitska on March 12, 1931; he served in the
7United States Air Force during the Korean War as a tail gunner,
8earning the National Defense Service Medal; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska retired from the Waukegan Post
10Office after 35 years of service; he delivered flowers for
11Larsen's Florist in Waukegan; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska was a member of First Presbyterian
13Church in Waukegan, where he served as an usher and a church
14trustee; he was a member of the Swedish Glee Club of Waukegan;
15he was active in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life
16from 2010 to 2013 and was a board member of the Postal Credit
17Union; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska was preceded in death by his wife,
19Juanita Palbitska; his brothers, Harold Sorenson, and Neva
20Cusimano; and his parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Tommy Palbitska is survived by his children,
2Pamela (Kenneth) Hassenplug, Randy Palbitska (Lynette
3Gilbert), Michael Palbitska, Katherine (Art) Goetz, and Lory
4(Doug) Adams; his grandchildren, Krista (John) McNamara,
5Ashley (Kenny) Knaus, Brendan Palbitska, Melissa Clark
6(Julio), John Adams, Brian (Alicia) Adams, and Steven Adams;
7his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sorenson, and Ruby Hurlburt; and
8his brother-in-law, Don Hurlburt; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Tommy L. Palbitska, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Tommy Palbitska as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
