SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dort Fauntleroy of Geneva, who passed away on August 31, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Dort Fauntleroy was born in Chicago to Gorton and Dorothy Dort Fauntleroy on April 30, 1925; he graduated from Lake Forest Academy and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in the 324th Infantry during World War II, receiving various commendations; he graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering; and

WHEREAS, After graduation, Dort Fauntleroy joined the family foundry business, eventually becoming President and CEO of Moline Malleable/Moline Corporation, and President and CEO of Dort Metallurgical in St. Charles; and

WHEREAS, Dort Fauntleroy enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spending summers on the Cisco Chain of Lakes in Northern Wisconsin, where he developed his lifelong love of fishing; he and his wife enjoyed vacations with their family and friends on the beach on Sanibel Island; he was a longtime member of the Geneva Golf Club, the Geneva Lion's Club, the Dunham Woods Riding Club, and the First Congregational Church in Geneva; he was a 59-year member of the Tebala Shriners, and served on the board of Delnor Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Dort Fauntleroy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 60 years, Carol Wiek Fauntleroy; and

WHEREAS, Dort Fauntleroy is survived by his daughter, Jean Fauntleroy; his son, David Fauntleroy; and his grandsons, Patrick (Caitlin) and Andrew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dort Fauntleroy, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dort Fauntleroy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
