SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary K. Katris of Waukegan, who passed away on December 5, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Mary Katris was born to Pelayia and Nicholas Kanel on October 4, 1928; and

WHEREAS, Mary Katris was an active member of the St. Demetrios Philoptochos Society for many years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Katris was a treasured Godmother, aunt, cousin, friend, honorary mother, and grandmother to many; and

WHEREAS, Mary Katris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James G. Katris; and her brother, Peter Kanel; and

WHEREAS, Mary Katris is survived by her sons, George and Peter (Mary); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary K. Katris, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Katris as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
