SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Hugh Arkell "Skeet" Bateman Jr. of Johnsburg, who passed away on November 25, 2016 at the age of 71; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Bateman was born in Evanston to Hugh A. and Dorothy (Stejskal) Bateman on July 29, 1945; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Bateman loved cooking, barbecuing, and hosting family get-togethers; he enjoyed restoring old cars, listening to a wide variety of music, drawing, whittling, and reading; he recently started traveling; he traveled to Brazil for the wedding of his exchange student son, Marcelo (Mohara) Lopes, and loved the Brazilian experience; he had a great sense of humor and a kind heart; he was willing to help everyone; his family was in awe of the fact that there seemed to be nothing he could not fix; his family meant everything to him; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Bateman was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; and his sister, Diane Cisco; and

WHEREAS, Hugh Bateman is survived by his children, Joel (Sarah) Bateman, Nicholas Bateman, Erik (Elizabeth) Bateman, and Christopher Bateman; his grandchildren, Benjamin and Jack; his father, Hugh Bateman Sr.; his sisters, Lee Bateman and Barbara Jean (Ron) Dickson; and his ex-wife and friend, Cindy Bateman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Hugh A. "Skeet" Bateman Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Hugh Bateman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
