SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Linda Sue Perkins-Lopez; and

WHEREAS, Linda Perkins-Lopez was born on July 18, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri; her parents were Norma Jean Perkins and Horace Livingston, Jr.; she married Ricardo Lopez in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Linda Perkins-Lopez graduated from Decatur Eisenhower High School in 1973; she subsequently attended Bradley University in Peoria, where she earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 1976 and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 1979; and

WHEREAS, After finishing her studies in 1979, Linda Perkins-Lopez moved to Chicago, where she worked as a personal banker for a couple of major banks before transitioning to the telecommunications industry; she then enjoyed a distinguished career as an Account Manager for both MCI and eventually AT&T, realizing a long-held career dream; while at AT&T, she received numerous customer service awards; and

WHEREAS, Linda Perkins-Lopez was a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.'s Peoria Alumnae Chapter; and

WHEREAS, Linda Perkins-Lopez enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling, and sampling the cuisine of the many destinations she traveled to, including New Orleans, the Caribbean, and Europe; and

WHEREAS, Linda Perkins-Lopez is survived by her soulmate, Ricardo Lopez; a son, Mario Lee Sims, Jr.; 3 brothers, Cornelius McGruder, Jeffrey (Sherri) Perkins, and Kerwin Jones; a sister, Lisa Kay (Les) Robinson; 3 extended brothers, Stanford G. Livingston, Mitchel Livingston, and Gregory Livingston; 5 extended sisters, Lynnette Mims, Sheila Watson, Gilda Spencer, Tamara Rubio and Stephanie Nfr; 10 nieces and nephews, Brandon, Jason, Darius, J.J., Jami, Tony, Nikki, Jackson, Mason, and Peyton; her many other family members and devoted friends; and her dog, "Baby Boy" Farley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Linda Sue Perkins-Lopez; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Linda Perkins-Lopez as an expression of our sympathy.
