SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Tom D. Morss of Peoria, who passed away
4on July 8, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom Morss was born in Galesburg on March 17, 1947
6to Leaon and Elaine (nee Donaldson) Morss; he married Jessie
7Russo on May 27, 1967 in Abingdon; he served in the United
8States Army from 1966 to 1969, including a 10-month tour in
9Thailand, where he worked in satellite communications; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tom Morss owned a transportation company, Traffic
11Tom, Inc., where he created an environment that was about
12serving the customer and providing quality jobs; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Tom Morss was a longtime parishioner of Holy
14Family and also loved serving the Cursillo community; he and
15his wife, Jessie, made Cursillo in 1984; in September of 2013,
16he served as the rector of Cursillo 1045, choosing the theme of
17"We Will Rise Again"; he was a talented musician, serving as a
18drum major in high school, playing trombone professionally as a
19young man, and singing with various church choirs, including
20the contemporary choir for more than a decade at Holy Family;

1    WHEREAS, Tom Morss loved attending his grandchildren's
2ball games, concerts, and recitals; in June of 2015, he was the
3survivor honoree at the Bartonville Relay for Life; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Tom Morss was preceded in death by his parents;
5his sister, Connie Morss; and his father and mother-in-law,
6Dominick and Glenessa Russo; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Tom Morss is survived by his wife, Jessie; his
8daughter, Gina (Bill) Morss-Fischer; his grandchildren Noah,
9Kylie, Vanessa, and Maya Fischer; his aunt, Leona Runyon; and
10numerous cousins, extended family, and friends; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Tom D. Morss, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
15friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Tom Morss as an expression of our esteem and
18respect.
