SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

5 ILCS 490/195 new

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that July 3rd of each year is designated as Citizens Re-entry Day to be observed as a day in recognition of ex-offenders who have been provided with an opportunity to re-enter society as productive citizens, and as a day to encourage continuing support of such citizens as they re-enter their communities.

AN ACT concerning government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by adding Section 195 as follows:

(5 ILCS 490/195 new)

Sec. 195. Citizens Re-entry Day. July 3rd of each year is designated as Citizens Re-entry Day to be observed as a day in recognition of ex-offenders who have been provided with an opportunity to re-enter society as productive citizens, and as a day to encourage continuing support of such citizens as they re-enter their communities.
