SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 155/35 new

    Amends the Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act. Provides that certain higher education institutions shall note any violations of a comprehensive policy on any academic transcripts prepared for a student within 5 years following a finding of a violation. Provides that if a student transfers to another higher education institution, certain higher education institutions must also note the violation on any academic transcripts prepared within the 5 years following a finding of a violation. Limits the provisions to public universities and public community colleges.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher
5Education Act is amended by adding Section 35 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 155/35 new)
7    Sec. 35. Notations on transcripts.
8    (a) This Section shall only apply to public universities
9and public community colleges and shall not be construed to
10apply to any other higher education institutions.
11    (b) If a student of a public university or public community
12college is found by that public university or public community
13college to have violated the comprehensive policy adopted under
14this Act, the public university or public community college
15shall include that violation on any academic transcripts
16prepared by the public university or public community college
17within the 5 years following the finding of a violation of the
18comprehensive policy, including any transcripts sent to other
19higher education institutions for the purpose of the student
20transferring to another higher education institution. If a
21student transfers from a public university or public community
22college to another public university or public community
23college, the public university or public community college to

1which the student transferred shall also include the violation
2on any academic transcripts prepared within the 5 years
3following the finding of a violation of the comprehensive
4policy at the public university or public community college
5from which the student transferred.
6    (c) A public university or public community college shall
7only include the violation on an academic transcript if the
8finding of a violation of the comprehensive policy occurred
9after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 100th
10General Assembly.
