SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/12-822 new

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a school board, upon request to the Department of Transportation, may obtain a decal to place on a school bus or a multifunction school-activity bus that provides notice that trespass on the bus is prohibited and provides notification of the penalties for the criminal trespass to the vehicle under the Criminal Code of 2012. The Department shall adopt the standards for the decal.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding Section 12-822 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/12-822 new)

Sec. 12-822. No trespassing decal. A school board, upon request to the Department of Transportation, may obtain a decal for a school bus or a multifunction school-activity bus that provides notice that trespass on the bus is prohibited and provides notification of the penalties for the trespass to the vehicle under Section 21-2 of the Criminal Code of 2012. The decal may be placed to the left of the service door on the exterior surface of the bus, on the interior riser of the top entry door step of the bus, or both. The Department shall adopt the standards for the decal.
