HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Pinckneyville High School seniors Dalton Pyatt and Kyle Kreger, along with Boat Captain Scott Kreger, on winning the Illinois High School Association's Bass Fishing State Championship at Carlyle Lake on May 19, 2018; and

WHEREAS, This is the tenth year of the tournament; teams are comprised of two students and one adult captain who runs the boat; teams weigh their five heaviest bass that are 12 inches or longer; the combined two-day weight determines finish; and

WHEREAS, The first day of the tournament was overcast and included a thunderstorm delay of two hours and 15 minutes, the ninth time in ten years that the weather delayed, postponed, or shortened the tournament; the second day was mostly sunny and temperatures reached the 80s; the fishing changed from one day to the next, and the team chose to fish in the same spot both days because they knew the fish would be there; they used slower baits and their strategy paid off; and

WHEREAS, Dalton Pyatt and Kyle Kreger were tied with Rochelle for first place after the first day, when they caught five fish weighing nine pounds, six ounces; then on Saturday, they caught five fish at eight pounds, two ounces, for a total of 17 pounds, eight ounces; and

WHEREAS, Competing in fishing tournaments requires hours of casting practice and studying of lake maps, along with many trips to local sporting goods stores; and

WHEREAS, Dalton Pyatt, Kyle Kreger, and Scott Kreger serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Pinckneyville High School Bass Fishing team members Dalton Pyatt and Kyle Kreger, along with Boat Captain Scott Kreger, on winning the Illinois High School Association's Bass Fishing State Championship at Carlyle Lake, and we commend their dedication; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Dalton Pyatt, Kyle Kreger, and Scott Kreger as an expression of our esteem and respect.
