HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Richard
4"Dick" Lindholm, who passed away on October 26, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was born in Chicago to Alfred and
6Ida (Carlson) Lindholm on October 25, 1927; he graduated from
7Geneva High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army; he
8attended Aurora College and the University of Chicago School of
9Business; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was an accomplished and successful
11businessman; he began his career as an entrepreneur when he
12purchased Melvin Electronics; he later transformed the corner
13of Anderson Boulevard and State Street when he purchased and
14remodeled a former industrial building into an attractive
15commercial property; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm served as an alderman for the city
17of Geneva from 1959 to 1965 and as mayor of Geneva from 1965 to
181973; he also served as Geneva Township Supervisor; and
 
19    WHEREAS, During his time as mayor of Geneva, the city
20created its first zoning ordinance and future land use map,
21which was not amended until 1995; the land-cash ordinance was

1to make developers pay for utilities to be extended to their
2new subdivisions; Geneva was the first town in the State of
3Illinois to develop a land-cash ordinance that was not
4challenged in court; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was preceded in death by his parents
6and his daughter, Susan Jackson; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm is survived by his wife of 70 years,
8Elsie "Mickey" (Johnson); his daughters, Deborah Lindholm,
9Carol (Don) Peterson, Janet (Leo) McGill, and Nancy (Steve
10Goad) Lindholm; his son-in-law, Don Jackson; his
11grandchildren, Kelly, Andrew, Dana, Cherie, Janel, Helena,
12Timothy, and Lily; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister,
13Charlotte Brigham; his nephews, Michael and David Brigham; and
14numerous other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" Lindholm and extend our
18sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
19and loved him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Dick Lindholm as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
