HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Lindholm, who passed away on October 26, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was born in Chicago to Alfred and Ida (Carlson) Lindholm on October 25, 1927; he graduated from Geneva High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army; he attended Aurora College and the University of Chicago School of Business; and

WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was an accomplished and successful businessman; he began his career as an entrepreneur when he purchased Melvin Electronics; he later transformed the corner of Anderson Boulevard and State Street when he purchased and remodeled a former industrial building into an attractive commercial property; and

WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm served as an alderman for the city of Geneva from 1959 to 1965 and as mayor of Geneva from 1965 to 1973; he also served as Geneva Township Supervisor; and

WHEREAS, During his time as mayor of Geneva, the city created its first zoning ordinance and future land use map, which was not amended until 1995; the land-cash ordinance was to make developers pay for utilities to be extended to their new subdivisions; Geneva was the first town in the State of Illinois to develop a land-cash ordinance that was not challenged in court; and

WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Susan Jackson; and

WHEREAS, Dick Lindholm is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elsie "Mickey" (Johnson); his daughters, Deborah Lindholm, Carol (Don) Peterson, Janet (Leo) McGill, and Nancy (Steve Goad) Lindholm; his son-in-law, Don Jackson; his grandchildren, Kelly, Andrew, Dana, Cherie, Janel, Helena, Timothy, and Lily; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, Charlotte Brigham; his nephews, Michael and David Brigham; and numerous other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard "Dick" Lindholm and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Lindholm as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
