HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of The
4Honorable Michael J. Henshaw of Harrisburg, who passed away on
5March 22, 2017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw was born in Harrisburg to A.J. and
7Morean Elms Henshaw on November 21, 1944; he graduated from
8Carrier Mills High School in 1963 and Southeastern Illinois
9College in 1965; he earned his Bachelor of Arts from Southern
10Illinois University in Carbondale in 1967; he earned his Juris
11Doctorate from the Chicago Kent College of Law in 1971 and was
12admitted to the Illinois Bar the same year; he married Lavon
13Tanner on November 25, 1995; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw was elected as Saline County
15State's Attorney in 1972 and served through 1976; he then went
16into private practice for two years before becoming the Circuit
17Court Judge for Saline County in 1978; he served through 1998
18and became the Chief Judge of the First Judicial Circuit until
19his retirement in November of 2006; in 2008, he was again
20elected Saline County State's Attorney and held that position
21until his death; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw attended the First United

1Methodist Church in Harrisburg; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw was preceded in death by his
3parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Michael Henshaw is survived by his wife, Lavon;
5his sons, Brad (Verlinda) Henshaw, Jarrod (Sarah) Henshaw, and
6Todd Stevens (Alexa Merritt); his daughter, Sarah (Walter)
7Powell; his grandchildren, Whitney Henshaw, Anneliese and
8Mitchell Henshaw, and Morgan and Alexa Powell; his brother,
9Harry Henshaw, and children, Rebecca and Aaron; his brother,
10Brent Henshaw; his nephew, Darrick Sandifer; his beloved
11friend, Luka Djedovic; and his beloved pet, Gracie; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15mourn the passing of Michael J. Henshaw, and extend our sincere
16condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Michael Henshaw as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
