HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives wishes to
3congratulate Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare System CEO Pam Davis
4on the announcement of her retirement after 28 years of
5expanding and improving healthcare services for families in and
6around the collar counties; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Pam Davis arrived at Edward Hospital in 1988 and
8quickly established a reputation as an innovative executive;
9during her tenure as President and CEO, she led the
10transformation from a small community hospital into a regional
11medical center rated among the most preferred hospitals in the
12State with numerous national accolades; and
 
13    WHEREAS, In 2013, Pam Davis led the effort to merge with
14Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and created Edward-Elmhurst Health,
15a three-hospital system that includes Edward Hospital,
16Elmhurst Hospital, and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health; the
17system has more than 60 locations across a service area of 1.7
18million residents, nearly 8,500 employees, and 2,000
19physicians on its medical staff; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Pam Davis,
21Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare System earned a reputation as a
22healthcare leader by providing advanced cardiac care at Edward

1Heart Hospital, state-of-the-art cancer diagnosis and
2treatment at Edward Cancer Center, world class stroke care
3through the Edward Neurosciences Institute in affiliation with
4Northwestern Medicine, and mental health services through
5Linden Oaks; in addition, Edward has been a magnet hospital for
6nursing excellence since 2005 and is one of only six hospitals
7in Illinois to have achieved magnet status three times or more;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, The impact of Pam Davis has been felt well beyond
10Naperville; she brought convenient access to high-quality
11healthcare for residents throughout the west and southwest
12suburbs, including the development of the 60-acre Edward
13Plainfield campus and Edward-Elmhurst Health Centers in
14Addison, Bolingbrook, Crest Hill, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Lombard,
15Naperville, Oak Park, Oswego, Plainfield, and Yorkville; she
16led the effort to launch walk-in clinics in Aurora,
17Bensenville, Franklin Park, Lombard, Naperville, Plainfield,
18River Forest, Romeoville, Westmont, Woodridge, and Yorkville;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Pam Davis did a great service for all Illinois
21taxpayers, blowing the whistle on corruption previously
22plaguing the State hospital application process; when being
23strong-armed into hiring specific politically-connected
24construction firms to receive State approval of her

1application, she contacted the FBI and wore a secret listening
2device for eight months to gather evidence of possible
3extortion that helped lead to successful criminal prosecutions
4of Stuart Levine and Tony Rezko, among others; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In February of 2017, Pam Davis was presented the
6Career Achievement Award by Chicago Health Executives Forum
7(CHEF), the largest independent chapter of the American College
8of Health Executives (ACHE); she was previously honored by
9CHEF/ACHE with the 2015 Recognition Program Service Award and
102009 Healthcare Leadership Award; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Pam Davis has created a lasting legacy of making
12vital healthcare services more readily accessible for hundreds
13of thousands of Illinois families, as well as taking a strong
14stand against public corruption; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17honor Pam Davis for her achievements and her integrity, and we
18wish her well in retirement; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Pam Davis as an expression of our esteem and
21respect.
