HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Western Illinois University women's basketball team, the Fighting Leathernecks, on winning the 2017 Summit League Tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks defeated Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis on March 7, 2017 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota by a score of 77 to 69 in overtime to win their first Summit League Tournament since 1995 and secured a berth in the NCAA tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks compiled a record of 26 wins and six losses on their way to winning the Summit League Tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks are coached by Head Coach JD Gravina, and Assistant Head Coach Seth Minter; the assistant coaches are Sydney Crafton and Taylor Ignoto; the Director of Basketball Operations is Mike Dashner; the graduate assistants are Marissa Webb and Paige Wolfe; and

WHEREAS, The Fighting Leathernecks are Emily Clemens, Olivia Braun, Mallory Boyle, Morgan Blumer, Olivia Kaufmann, Taylor Hannerman, Andi Pierce, Jasmine Patrick, Michelle Farrow, Taylor Higginbotham, and Sam Pryor; the manager is Erin Sullivan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Western Illinois University women's basketball team, the Fighting Leathernecks, on winning the 2017 Summit League Tournament; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Fighting Leathernecks as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
