HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Merilyn
4"Mimi" Ann Bever Browning, who passed away on March 8, 2017;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Mimi Browning was born in Madison, Wisconsin to
7Wayne and Velma (Myers) Bever on December 11, 1937; she was
8raised in Champaign and baptized on April 9, 1944 at First
9Presbyterian Church; she graduated from Champaign High School
10and the University of Illinois in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts
11in Home Economics in the College of Agriculture, where she
12pledged the Pi Beta Phi sorority; she married Walter "Bud"
13Browning on June 20, 1960; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mimi Browning and her husband lived in
15Schenectady, New York and Cleveland, Ohio before returning to
16Illinois; she was active in her children's schools, where she
17was a room mother, baseball team mom, and an advocate for the
18arts; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mimi Browning worked at a sewing store, and in
201983, started a 33-year career as a travel agent in Chicago;
21she enjoyed traveling herself and visited France, Spain,
22England, Germany, Turkey, Thailand, and China; with the

1exception of Maine, she traveled to every state in the country;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mimi Browning enjoyed Christmas, cooking,
4reading, photography, scrapbooking, and entertaining; she
5joined the Presbyterian Church on April 28, 2002 and was
6ordained in 2014; she served on the Board of Deacons for three
7years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mimi Browning is survived by her husband of 57
9years, Bud; her daughter, Amy (Tom) Novicki; her son, Tom
10(Jill) Browning; and her grandchildren, Tommy and Anna Novicki,
11and Susannah, Eric, and Will Browning; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14mourn the passing of Merilyn "Mimi" Ann Bever Browning, and
15extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
16who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Mimi Browning as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
