HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate William "Bill"
4Shanklin on receiving the 65th annual Elmhurst Jaycees
5Distinguished Service Award (DSA); and
 
6    WHEREAS, First awarded in 1950, the DSA is given to a
7citizen in recognition of his or her long-term dedication to
8making Elmhurst a better community; and
 
9    WHEREAS, William Shanklin has contributed in many ways to
10improving the community of Elmhurst for its citizens; he has
11been a prominent member of the Elmhurst business community as
12the executive vice-president and chief operating officer of the
13Champion Container Corporation located in Wood Dale; he is the
14current chair of the Elmhurst Economic Development Commission;
15he serves on the boards of the Elmhurst Public Library and the
16Elmhurst American Legion; he is also a member of the Veterans
17Military Commission in Elmhurst; and
 
18    WHEREAS, During his time with the Elmhurst Economic
19Development Commission, William Shanklin has worked to
20energize the Commission to make a difference in the economic
21success of the Elmhurst community; and

1    WHEREAS, William Shanklin is one of the most active Life
2Members of the Elmhurst American Legion T.H.B. Post 187, where
3he was most recently the chair of their inaugural Military Ball
4fundraiser; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Shanklin will be honored at a banquet
6dinner on April 25, 2017 at the Normandy Banquet Room of the
7Elmhurst American Legion; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10congratulate William "Bill" Shanklin on receiving the 65th
11annual Elmhurst Jaycees Distinguished Service Award; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to William Shanklin as an expression of our esteem
15and respect.
