HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate William "Bill" Shanklin on receiving the 65th annual Elmhurst Jaycees Distinguished Service Award (DSA); and

WHEREAS, First awarded in 1950, the DSA is given to a citizen in recognition of his or her long-term dedication to making Elmhurst a better community; and

WHEREAS, William Shanklin has contributed in many ways to improving the community of Elmhurst for its citizens; he has been a prominent member of the Elmhurst business community as the executive vice-president and chief operating officer of the Champion Container Corporation located in Wood Dale; he is the current chair of the Elmhurst Economic Development Commission; he serves on the boards of the Elmhurst Public Library and the Elmhurst American Legion; he is also a member of the Veterans Military Commission in Elmhurst; and

WHEREAS, During his time with the Elmhurst Economic Development Commission, William Shanklin has worked to energize the Commission to make a difference in the economic success of the Elmhurst community; and

WHEREAS, William Shanklin is one of the most active Life Members of the Elmhurst American Legion T.H.B. Post 187, where he was most recently the chair of their inaugural Military Ball fundraiser; and

WHEREAS, William Shanklin will be honored at a banquet dinner on April 25, 2017 at the Normandy Banquet Room of the Elmhurst American Legion; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate William "Bill" Shanklin on receiving the 65th annual Elmhurst Jaycees Distinguished Service Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to William Shanklin as an expression of our esteem and respect.
