HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Wood Dale Park District on the occasion of its 50th anniversary on November 18, 2017; and

WHEREAS, At the encouragement of the Wood Dale Junior Women's Club and the Wood Dale Club and local leader Jim Mixon, the Wood Dale Park District was formed in November of 1967; land acquisition began in 1968; and

WHEREAS, Richard J. Fenel donated the parcel of land that is now Brookwood Park to the Wood Dale Park District in 1968; and

WHEREAS, 1970 saw successful passage of the first Wood Dale Park District tax referendum and the first affiliate relationship with a school district; and

WHEREAS, In 1971, with support from local property taxpayers, the Wood Dale Park District purchased Hamlin's Pond (Lake Mini-Ha-Ha), Franzen Grove, Terrace Park, and Central Park, and opened the Fredrick Lester Pool; and

WHEREAS, In 1987, the Wood Dale Park District purchased the Salt Creek Golf Club, and after capital improvements, the expanded Salt Creek Golf Course clubhouse facilities began service in 1993, with a major expansion in 2003, and significant affiliate enhancements by TopGolf Wood Dale starting in 2006; and

WHEREAS, The Wood Dale Park District opened its Recreation Complex in 2001; and

WHEREAS, The Wood Dale Park District Comprehensive Community Action Master Plan was completed and officially adopted in 2015; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Wood Dale Park District "Active Places, Friendly Faces", on its 50th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That, just as the Wood Dale Park District will carry on for many more years, it will add to the lifespans of its users through active implementation of its mission statement, "Serving the community with quality recreational experiences that provide a fun and healthy lifestyle"; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we congratulate the fulltime staff and volunteer affiliates of the Wood Dale Park District on their District's 50th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Matthew Ellmann, Executive Director of the Wood Dale Park District.
