HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Wood Dale Park
4District on the occasion of its 50th anniversary on November
518, 2017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, At the encouragement of the Wood Dale Junior
7Women's Club and the Wood Dale Club and local leader Jim Mixon,
8the Wood Dale Park District was formed in November of 1967;
9land acquisition began in 1968; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard J. Fenel donated the parcel of land that
11is now Brookwood Park to the Wood Dale Park District in 1968;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, 1970 saw successful passage of the first Wood Dale
14Park District tax referendum and the first affiliate
15relationship with a school district; and
 
16    WHEREAS, In 1971, with support from local property
17taxpayers, the Wood Dale Park District purchased Hamlin's Pond
18(Lake Mini-Ha-Ha), Franzen Grove, Terrace Park, and Central
19Park, and opened the Fredrick Lester Pool; and
 
20    WHEREAS, In 1987, the Wood Dale Park District purchased the

1Salt Creek Golf Club, and after capital improvements, the
2expanded Salt Creek Golf Course clubhouse facilities began
3service in 1993, with a major expansion in 2003, and
4significant affiliate enhancements by TopGolf Wood Dale
5starting in 2006; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Wood Dale Park District opened its Recreation
7Complex in 2001; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Wood Dale Park District Comprehensive
9Community Action Master Plan was completed and officially
10adopted in 2015; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13congratulate the Wood Dale Park District "Active Places,
14Friendly Faces", on its 50th anniversary; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That, just as the Wood Dale Park District will
16carry on for many more years, it will add to the lifespans of
17its users through active implementation of its mission
18statement, "Serving the community with quality recreational
19experiences that provide a fun and healthy lifestyle"; and be
20it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That we congratulate the fulltime staff and

1volunteer affiliates of the Wood Dale Park District on their
2District's 50th anniversary; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to
4Matthew Ellmann, Executive Director of the Wood Dale Park
5District.
