HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Darlene Ahlstedt of Prospect Heights, who passed away on May 17, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Ahlstedt served as Prospect Heights Ward 5 Alderman from 1997 to 2007; she was a staunch advocate for residents living in the multifamily housing district on the city's east side; she improved the standard of living for those at Quincy Park and was an advocate for good wherever she went; she often served as a mentor to incoming aldermen and volunteers; she also served on the Finance Committee; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Ahlstedt was a member of the Chicago Executive Airport Board and was a volunteer with the police department from 2007 to 2017, where she often manned the front desk; she was also part of the police outreach program and oversaw police volunteer programs; and

WHEREAS, Darlene Ahlstedt was viewed as the moral compass of her community; she was a tenacious, public-minded person with a big heart and great sense of compassion for residents of Prospect Heights; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Darlene Ahlstedt, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Darlene Ahlstedt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
