HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Steve Stricker on the occasion of his retirement as administrator for the Village of Burr Ridge on June 30, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Steve Stricker has served as the village administrator for Burr Ridge from 1989 to 2017; prior to that, he worked as a social studies teacher for Hillside Elementary School from 1979 to 1981, administrative assistant for the Village of LaGrange from 1982 to 1983, deputy building commissioner for LaGrange from 1983 to 1984, assistant village manager/personnel director for LaGrange from 1984 to 1989, and acting village administrator for LaGrange for six months from 1987 to 1988; and

WHEREAS, Steve Stricker has been a part of numerous organizations, including the Illinois Association of Municipal Management Assistants from 1987 to 1988, where he served as president; the Illinois City Management Association for over 30 years, where he served on the board of directors in 1987; the International Personnel Management Association; the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association; the Illinois Public Employer Labor Relations Association; the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, where he served as treasurer from 1992-1993, 2007-2008, and 2011-2012 and was on the executive board from 1992-1993 and 2005-2017; the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency, where he served as treasurer in 1989 and was on the board of directors from 1984-1989 and 1991-1994; the Intergovernmental Personnel Benefit Cooperative, where he served on the board of directors from 1984-1987 and 1993-2017 and was on the executive board from 2011-2014; the International City/County Management Association, where he was presented the 35-year Service Award in 2016; and

WHEREAS, From 1996 to 2017, Steve Stricker has been a member of the Burr Ridge and Hinsdale Rotary Clubs; president of the Burr Ridge Club 1998-1999; Burr Ridge Club Rotarian of the Year 2002; treasurer of Burr Ridge Club 1997 and 1999-2005; secretary of Hinsdale Club 2006-2009 and 2016-2017; Hinsdale Club "Service Above Self" award 2008; vice president of the Hinsdale Club 2015-2016; and

WHEREAS, Steve Stricker's education includes the Rocky Mountain Program, University of Colorado at Denver Center for the Improvement of Public Management; two-week post graduate training program for senior level public sector executives; Master of Arts in Public Affairs from Northern Illinois University; Bachelor of Arts in History from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Steve Stricker married Carol Hennessy in January of 2014; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Steve Stricker on his retirement as administrator for the Village of Burr Ridge, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Steve Stricker as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
