HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Silverleaf 4-H club in 2017; and

WHEREAS, 4-H started in 1914 under the National Boys and Girls Club Work program; the 4-H Club unified many local farm and rural youth programs; now, 4-H is worldwide and has expanded from just agricultural and nutrition to whatever inspires the imagination; and

WHEREAS, 4-H reaches kids in every corner of America - from urban neighborhoods to suburban schoolyards to rural farming communities; it has a network of 500,000 volunteers and 3,500 professionals that provide caring and supportive mentoring to all six million 4-H'ers, helping them grow into true leaders today and in life; and

WHEREAS, The anniversary will be celebrated with shared memories, ice cream, pie, and cake on the afternoon of July 8, 2017 at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Silverleaf 4-H club and wish them another 100 years of success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Silverleaf 4-H club as an expression of our esteem and respect.
