HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Kim Armstrong on her
4commitment to the Peoria community and the State of Illinois;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong grew up in Peoria; she attended
7Manuel High School and graduated from Bradley University in
81980; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong's involvement with Bradley
10University includes the Alumni Center Planning Committee and
11the Greek Alumni Council; she is a member of Chi Omega and has
12been a steadfast supporter, leader, and mentor to many women
13attending the university; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong has been deeply involved with the
15Bradley University Speech Team; a lifelong supporter of the
16program that her father developed, she has attended Bradley
17University Speech Team performances, helped raise funds for
18trips, assisted in organizing the American Forensic
19Association National Individual Events Tournament, and spent
20endless hours in her kitchen preparing meals for hungry, and
21very appreciative, undergraduate students; and

1    WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong has also volunteered with the OSF
2Healthcare Angel Ball, the Public Arts Advisory Commission, the
3Invictus Woods Recovery Home, Sculpture Walk Peoria, and the
4Peoria Art Guild's award-winning Fine Art Fair; when Hurricane
5Harvey hit Texas, she was there to donate blood to the Red
6Cross; and
 
7    WHEREAS, In 2007, Bradley University recognized Kim
8Armstrong as a Bradley University Centurion; in 2017, the
9university awarded her the Lydia Moss Bradley Award for
10displaying outstanding service to the institution; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kim Armstrong has always been concerned with the
12education and welfare of others, especially youth and those
13less fortunate; she is an advocate for diversity, inclusion,
14equity, and fairness; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
16HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17recognize Kim Armstrong on her commitment to the Peoria
18community and the State of Illinois, and we thank her for her
19efforts to make Peoria and the State of Illinois a better place
20to live; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to Kim Armstrong as a symbol of our respect and
