HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. James Manint on
4receiving the "2017 Rural Physician of Excellence Award" from
5the Illinois Rural Health Association; and
 
6    WHEREAS, one of the biggest healthcare challenges across
7our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural
8settings; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Manint's career in healthcare began when he
10was in high school and worked as an orderly at Kirby Medical
11Center; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Manint went on to serve our country in the
13United States Air Force; and
 
14    WHEREAS, in 1977, Dr. Manint graduated from Kirksville
15College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri; he
16completed his residency in family practice at Scott Air Force
17base in 1980; he then served as a family practice physician at
18Chanute Air Force Base from 1980-1984; in 1984, he returned to
19Kirby Medical Center to continue his career; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Manint's vast service to his community

1includes serving as Piatt County Coroner, and as the Medical
2Director of the Piatt County Health Department, Bement Health
3Care Nursing Home, and the Cornerstone Home; he has been a
4Federal Aviation Administration Medical Examiner since 1988;
5his board certifications in both Family Practice and Geriatric
6Medicine have allowed him to care for multiple generations of
7families in his community; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Whether he is flying overhead or more grounded in
9his daily practice, Dr. Manint has made a huge impact in
10improving rural healthcare in East Central Illinois;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14commend Dr. Manint on his nearly 40 years of selfless service
15and dedication to his patients; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Dr. Manint as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
