HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Susan Hoch on receiving the 2017 Best School Blood Drive Coordinator Award on behalf of the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; and

WHEREAS, In 2007, Susan Hoch began coordinating blood drives on behalf of Bartlett High School; and

WHEREAS, Under Susan Hoch's leadership, over 25 blood drives have been held; and

WHEREAS, Susan Hoch's background as a registered nurse gives her a firsthand understanding of the importance of blood donation which she shares with her students; and

WHEREAS, Through Susan Hoch's role in Health Occupations Students of America, she believes it is important to expose students to the many career paths in the healthcare arena; and

WHEREAS, Susan Hoch motivates her students to play a proactive role in the blood drive, including marketing, recruitment, education, and escorting donors to the refreshment area; and

WHEREAS, Susan Hoch's blood drive efforts have resulted in the collection of over 1,600 units of blood, which have the potential to save nearly 5,000 lives; and

WHEREAS, Susan Hoch was nominated in 2017 by Heartland Blood Centers as the "Best School Blood Drive Coordinator" in a statewide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; and

WHEREAS, The results of Susan Hoch's efforts will be seen for years to come because of the critical role high school blood drives play in cultivating lifetime donors; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Susan Hoch for her commitment to insuring a healthy blood supply in her community; and be it further

RESOLVED That a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Susan Hoch as an expression of our esteem and respect.
