HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Knox County Farm
4Bureau on the occasion of its 100th Anniversary, and its
5century long tradition of serving local farmers and advocating
6for their needs; and
 
7    WHEREAS, 100 years ago on February 16, 1918, the Knox
8County Farm Bureau was established by a group of 370 farmers
9from across the county; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Knox County Farm Bureau was founded in order
11to provide educational services, farm research, and
12information to farmers across the county; and
 
13    WHEREAS, As the Knox County Farm Bureau has matured, its
14offices have been housed at five different locations including
1576 South Cherry Street, 272 East Simmons Street, 95 North
16Seminary Street, 256 South Soangetaha Road, and, currently, 180
17South Soangetaha Road in Galesburg in the Knox Agri-Center; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Knox Agri-Center is a condominium association
19that was formed in 1979 to serve as an agriculture center in
20the community and today it houses the Knox County Farm Bureau,
21COUNTRY Financial, and the University of Illinois Extension

1offices; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Today, the Knox County Farm Bureau is 2600 members
3strong, having grown to this size under the leadership of its
4past 23 presidents including such distinguished former leaders
5as John Block who served as the Secretary of Agriculture under
6the Reagan Administration; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Currently, Knox County Farm Bureau President
8Grant Strom and the Knox County Farm Bureau continue the
9tradition of serving the community and local farmers;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13congratulate the Knox County Farm Bureau on its 100 year
14anniversary and its success and diligence in serving local
15farmers; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
17presented to the Knox County Farm Bureau and to the President
18of the Knox County Farm Bureau, Grant Strom, as a symbol of our
19esteem and respect.
