1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to celebrate the centennial birthday of
4 Ruth Robbins on March 22, 2018; and

5     WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins has been an integral part of
6 Chicago's Ravenswood Manor neighborhood since moving to the
7 community at the age of six; and

8     WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins began working in the 1950s as an
9 assistant to the president of the National Association of
10 Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET); and

11     WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins retired from NABET in 1992; and

12     WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins, accompanied by her sister Elaine,
13 traveled extensively around the world exploring countries and
14 cultures on nearly every continent; and

15     WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins is renowned for her voracious reading
16 appetite, including many genres of fiction and nonfiction
17 alike; and

18     WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins remains engaged in current events,
19 monitoring public policy issues closely even today; therefore,

2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
3 HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that, with
4 a tip of our collective hats, we congratulate Ruth Robbins on
5 her 100th birthday and thank her for her contributions to the
6 State of Illinois; and be it further

7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Ruth Robbins as an expression of our appreciation.
