1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize the Original Springs
4 Hotel in Okawville on the occasion of its 150th anniversary;
5 and

6     WHEREAS, The Original Springs Hotel was established in 1867
7 by Rudolph Plegge and C.H. Helle as a small bathhouse, which
8 was opened in response to tests that yielded abnormally high
9 mineral content in the water around the area; and

10     WHEREAS, The Original Springs Hotel is the only continually
11 operating mineral spring in the State of Illinois; and

12     WHEREAS, The Original Springs Hotel boasts 38 guest rooms,
13 a restaurant, a pool, and a mineral spa; and

14     WHEREAS, The Original Springs Hotel is on the National
15 Register of Historic Places; therefore, be it

16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17 HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 recognize the Original Springs Hotel in Okawville on its
19 150-year history and we wish them success and prosperity in the
20 future; and be it further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the staff of the Original Springs Hotel as a
3 symbol of our esteem and respect.
