HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the 150th anniversary of the founding of Columbia Masonic Lodge #474 on October 3, 1866; and

WHEREAS, Freemasonry in Illinois has a long-standing tradition of serving communities with various acts of beneficence; Masons throughout the State continue this tradition through a network of charitable programs, with a primary focus advancing the welfare of others, particularly children and senior citizens; and

WHEREAS, Freemasons, not only serve their communities by setting a good example as citizens, but they also improve the lives of future generations and care for the elderly; and

WHEREAS, Freemasonry promotes friendship, morality, and brotherly love; it is comprised of men from every race, religion, opinion, and background who are brought together to develop and strengthen the bonds of friendship; and

WHEREAS, Freemasons has over three million members and is the largest and oldest fraternal organization in the world; and

WHEREAS, Freemasonry proposes to "make good men better" by teaching about building values based on great universal truths; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the 150th anniversary of the founding of Columbia Masonic Lodge #474 and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the members of Columbia Masonic Lodge #474 as an expression of our esteem and respect.
