HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize the 150th anniversary of the
4founding of Columbia Masonic Lodge #474 on October 3, 1866; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Freemasonry in Illinois has a long-standing
6tradition of serving communities with various acts of
7beneficence; Masons throughout the State continue this
8tradition through a network of charitable programs, with a
9primary focus advancing the welfare of others, particularly
10children and senior citizens; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Freemasons, not only serve their communities by
12setting a good example as citizens, but they also improve the
13lives of future generations and care for the elderly; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Freemasonry promotes friendship, morality, and
15brotherly love; it is comprised of men from every race,
16religion, opinion, and background who are brought together to
17develop and strengthen the bonds of friendship; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Freemasons has over three million members and is
19the largest and oldest fraternal organization in the world; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Freemasonry proposes to "make good men better" by

1teaching about building values based on great universal truths;
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5recognize the 150th anniversary of the founding of Columbia
6Masonic Lodge #474 and we wish them many more successful years;
7and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the members of Columbia Masonic Lodge #474 as an
10expression of our esteem and respect.
