    Amends the Minimum Wage Law. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the Director of Labor.

1    AN ACT concerning employment.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Minimum Wage Law is amended by changing
5Section 7 as follows:
 
6    (820 ILCS 105/7)  (from Ch. 48, par. 1007)
7    Sec. 7. The Director or his authorized representatives have
8the authority to:
9    (a) Investigate and and gather data regarding the wages,
10hours and other conditions and practices of employment in any
11industry subject to this Act, and may enter and inspect such
12places and such records (and make such transcriptions thereof)
13at reasonable times during regular business hours, not
14including lunch time at a restaurant, question such employees,
15and investigate such facts, conditions, practices or matters as
16he may deem necessary or appropriate to determine whether any
17person has violated any provision of this Act, or which may aid
18in the enforcement of this Act.
19    (b) Require from any employer full and correct statements
20and reports in writing, including sworn statements, at such
21times as the Director may deem necessary, of the wages, hours,
22names, addresses, and other information pertaining to his
23employees as he may deem necessary for the enforcement of this

1Act.
2    (c) Require by subpoena the attendance and testimony of
3witnesses and the production of all books, records, and other
4evidence relative to a matter under investigation or hearing.
5The subpoena shall be signed and issued by the Director or his
6or her authorized representative. If a person fails to comply
7with any subpoena lawfully issued under this Section or a
8witness refuses to produce evidence or testify to any matter
9regarding which he or she may be lawfully interrogated, the
10court may, upon application of the Director or his or her
11authorized representative, compel obedience by proceedings for
12contempt.
