SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
210 ILCS 115/9  from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 719
210 ILCS 115/9.17 new

    Amends the Mobile Home Park Act. Requires each mobile home park to contain a storm shelter with design plans, engineering calculations, diagrams, and other data prepared by an architect licensed under the Illinois Architecture Practice Act of 1989, a professional engineer licensed under the Professional Engineering Practice Act of 1989, or a structural engineer licensed under the Structural Engineering Practice Act of 1989. Provides that each shelter must meet specified standards. Provides that a multi-purpose facility that contains an area meeting the standards satisfies the storm shelter requirements.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Mobile Home Park Act is amended by changing
5Section 9 and by adding Section 9.17 as follows:
 
6    (210 ILCS 115/9)  (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 719)
7    Sec. 9. Each mobile home park licensed or to be constructed
8under the provisions of this Act shall be operated and
9maintained in accordance with the requirements of Sections 9.1
10to 9.17 9.16, inclusive, of this Act.

13    Sec. 9.17. Storm shelters required. Each mobile home park
14shall contain a storm shelter with design plans, engineering
15calculations, diagrams, and other data prepared by an architect
16licensed under the Illinois Architecture Practice Act of 1989,
17a professional engineer licensed under the Professional
18Engineering Practice Act of 1989, or a structural engineer
19licensed under the Structural Engineering Practice Act of 1989.
20Each shelter must have:
21        (1) the ability to withstand wind speeds of 200 miles
22    per hour;

1        (2) 12 square feet of floor space per mobile home pad
2    in the park;
3        (3) a ceiling height of not less than 7 feet;
4        (4) 2 exits, including at least one exit that is
5    accessible by individuals with physical disabilities;
6        (5) underground electrical service;
7        (6) interior lighting and an emergency lighting system
8    supplied from storage batteries or an on-site generator;
9    and
10        (7) a location that is centrally located in relation to
11    all mobile homes in the park.
12    A multi-purpose facility that contains an area meeting the
13standards in paragraphs (1) through (7) satisfies the
14requirements of this Section.
