AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing Section 5-801 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/5-801) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 5-801)

Sec. 5-801. Criminal penalties. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this Chapter, except a person who violates a provision for which a different criminal penalty is indicated, is shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. Any person who violates subsection (e) of Section 5-202 is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor. Any person who violates any provisions of Section 5-701 is shall be guilty of a Class 3 felony.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
