SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Duane Homer Mitchell, who passed away on
4October 1, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell was born in Arthur to Homer W. and
6Jessie Erhardt Mitchell on December 4, 1927; he graduated from
7Moline High School in 1946 and joined the United States Army
8Air Force that same year; he graduated from the University of
9Illinois in 1951 and married Beverly J. Matzen in East Moline
10on July 18, 1953; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell retired as general manager of
12accounting from Litton Industries in 1992 after 40 years of
13service; in 1964, he was named the "Most Valuable Member" by
14the National Association of Accountants; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell was a member of Homewood
16Evangelical Free Church in Moline; he enjoyed hunting, fishing,
17and golf; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and
18Illini Sports; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife
20of 56 years, Beverly; his parents; his brothers, George Isaac
21and Eugene Earl; and his friend, Buda Larson; and

1    WHEREAS, Duane Mitchell is survived by his daughters,
2Danielle (Raymond Emry) and Susan (Lauren Elgin); his
3granddaughters, Kelley (Ben Jaszewski) and Megan Emry; his
4grandsons, Ryan Carlson and Lane Carlson; his
5great-grandchildren, Charlotte Jaszewski and Jameson
6Jaszewski; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and
7Joanne Johnson; his sister-in-law, Lorraine Shellenberger; and
8many cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Duane Homer Mitchell, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Duane Mitchell as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
