SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Olivia Patton Hooker, who passed away on
4October 11, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Olivia Hooker was born in Lexington, Mississippi
6to Andrew and Mary Selena Patton on March 9, 1951; she attended
7high school at Lexington Attendance Center; she married her
8high school sweetheart, Willie Hooker Jr., and they enjoyed
9over 40 years together; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Olivia Hooker owned Hooker's Restaurant, where
11she was noted as a great cook; she truly enjoyed using her
12cooking to bring smiles to people's faces; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Olivia Hooker was a faithful member of Newport
14Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Pastor Aid
15Committee and the Dining Committee, oversaw the Youth Program,
16and was a member of the choir; she enjoyed taking care of her
17family and sewing; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Olivia Hooker was preceded in death by her
19husband, Willie; her daughter, Teresa Hooker; and her brothers,
20LC and Clarence Patton; and

1    WHEREAS, Olivia Hooker is survived by her daughters,
2Beatrice Hooker and Lucretia Newman; her son, Willie (Melissa)
3Hooker III; her sisters, Louisville Marcus, Juanita Patton,
4Meta Patton, and Rosie Levy; and her many grandchildren,
5great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Olivia Patton Hooker and extend our sincere condolences to her
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Olivia Hooker as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
