SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barbara McLachlan of Oak Park, who passed
4away on May 6, 2017, at the age of 81; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was born on October 24, 1935 and
6raised in the City of Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan graduated from Alverno College
8in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a degree in education; she was a
9grade school teacher for many years before starting a career as
10a paralegal in the 1980s, but later returned to teaching before
11her retirement; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan served as past co-president and
13board member of the League of Women Voters of Oak Park; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was a voracious reader and was a
15member of several book clubs and discussion groups; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was an avid bridge player and
17participated in a number of groups throughout Oak Park over the
18past 40 years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was known by family and friends

1to inspire others with her kindness, intellect, vibrant spirit,
2determination, and sense of humor; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Barbara McLachlan was the much-loved wife of the
4late Duane McLachlan, and the cherished mother of daughter
5Maureen McLachlan, with whom she enjoyed a special and enduring
6relationship; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Barbara McLachlan, and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Barbara McLachlan as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
