SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy Hoey Hanson of River Forest, who passed away on July 12, 2017, at the age of 77; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was born to John Joseph and Grace Pigott Hoey on April 25, 1940; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was an active, caring member of her faith community, serving as president of the First Presbyterian Church of Oak Park Guild; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson devoted her time to bettering the lives of those in her neighborhood, especially the children of Oak Park and River Forest; she was a member of the board of directors of the Oak Park and River Forest Day Nursery and helped organize referenda for the River Forest Elementary Schools and the Oak Park and River Forest High School; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was heavily involved in philanthropy as a member of the Community Chest of Oak Park and River Forest; she served on the Community Chest's Board of Governors, as campaign chairman, and as president; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson supported the Art Institute of Chicago as a member and then chairman of the board of directors of the OPRF Community Associates and as executive chair of the executive board of Community Associates; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson served as a member and president of the Philanthropic Educational Organization's Oak Park Chapter BI, which promoted educational opportunities for women; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Bartley Hoey; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Hoey Hanson is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, David Louis Hanson; her beloved sons, Mark Louis (Burch) Hanson and United States Navy Captain Christopher John (Catherine) Hanson; her cherished grandchildren, William Louis and Edward McCutchen Hanson and Caroline Grace and Chase Edward Hanson; and many wonderfully supportive neighbors and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nancy Hoey Hanson, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancy Hoey Hanson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
