SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elizabeth Joan "Betty" Marinis, who
4passed away on January 16, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Marinis was born in Chicago to Arthur L.
6and Marie (Murley) King on June 9, 1930; she graduated from St.
7Anne's Nursing School in 1951 and married William Marinis in
8Des Plaines on May 17, 1952; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Marinis had a diverse nursing career,
10but was most proud of her work as an obstetrics nurse; she was
11also an early member of the Crystal Lake Volunteer Ambulance
12Service; she earned her bachelor's degree in 1985 from the
13University of St. Francis; she retired from nursing in 1987;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Marinis was loved by all who knew her
16and had great compassion for those in need; she was fiercely
17proud of her Irish heritage; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Marinis was preceded in death by her
19parents; her husband, Dr. William Marinis; her sister, Noreen
20Adler; and her numerous canine Boxer companions; and

1    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Marinis is survived by her children,
2William (Deborah) Marinis, Mary Beth (Walter) Thomas, James
3(Megan) Marinis, and Thomas (Stephanie) Marinis; her
4grandchildren, Jared (Kayla) Marshall, Ryan Marshall,
5Elizabeth Marinis, Kathryn (Tyler) Haws, Sarah Thomas, Walter
6Thomas, William J. Marinis, Isabel Marinis, William G. Marinis,
7Grace Marinis, Stephen Marinis, James Marinis, and Mary
8Marinis; and her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Haws;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Elizabeth Joan "Betty" Marinis, and extend our sincere
13condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14her; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Elizabeth Marinis as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
