SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jeffrey Ritsert of Oak Park, who passed away on August 24, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Ritsert was born in Oak Park to Larry Ritsert and Elaine Pierce on May 9, 1992; he graduated from Grace Lutheran School in River Forest in 2006 and demonstrated an amazing aptitude for door-to-door sales during the annual Cub Scout popcorn drives; he graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park in 2010, where he excelled in musical theater; he sang with the Madrigal Choir of Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park, and loved the music and friends he made there; he attended Knox College in Galesburg; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Ritsert and some of the good friends he made at Knox College moved to Redmond, Washington in 2014 to share a home; he and his friends produced a monthly podcast on gaming and were selected to present at the 2017 Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, Washington; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Ritsert worked as a waiter at a British pub and took classes at Bellevue College in Washington; his family, friends, and co-workers, in both Oak Park and Redmond, affectionately endured his cheerful, never-ending, atrociously unsuccessful quest to perfect an English accent throughout his years; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Ritsert was full of laughter and kindness; he was smart and funny and eager for any adventure; his friends and loved ones are grateful for the wonderful memories they have of him; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Ritsert truly changed the lives of those who knew him with the kindness that flowed from his gentle heart; and

WHEREAS, Jeffrey Ritsert is survived by his parents and his sister, Trinity Pierce; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeffrey Ritsert, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeffrey Ritsert as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
