SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert M. Sandborg of Moline, who passed
4away on October 31, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg was born in Galesburg to Maurice
6and Beatrice Hicks Sandborg on May 5, 1928; he graduated high
7school and joined the United States Navy in 1947 and was based
8out of Miramar, San Diego, California as an aviation
9photographer mate; he was discharged in 1951 and attended
10Bradley University from 1951 to 1952 before moving to Moline;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg began working at The Daily
13Dispatch in the photography department in 1953; he married Lola
14R. Holty in Houston, Minnesota on June 22, 1957; he began his
15career at Deere & Company in 1958, where he worked in the
16advertising department, retiring in 1983; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg was an active member of First
18Evangelical Free Church, where he served on various boards and
19committees; he was also a Sunday school teacher and wedding
20photographer; he supported numerous charities and non-profit
21organizations, including Youth Hope, Camp Summit, and the Moody
22Bible Institute; and

1    WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg was preceded in death by his
2parents; his wife of 25 years, Lola; his brothers, George and
3Richard; and his sister, Elinor Pritchard; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg is survived by his sons, Thomas
5(Rebecca) and Scott (Chris); his brothers, Paul Sandborg (Rita)
6and David Sandborg; his grandchildren, Abigail Howard (Jim),
7Allison Mitchell (Adam), Annah Sandborg, Kirsten King, Zach
8King, Shane Sandborg, Alex Sandborg, Daniel Fassett, and
9Chandler Fassett; and his special friends, Jim and Sharron
10Ziel; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Robert M. Sandborg, and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Robert Sandborg as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
