SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert M. Sandborg of Moline, who passed away on October 31, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg was born in Galesburg to Maurice and Beatrice Hicks Sandborg on May 5, 1928; he graduated high school and joined the United States Navy in 1947 and was based out of Miramar, San Diego, California as an aviation photographer mate; he was discharged in 1951 and attended Bradley University from 1951 to 1952 before moving to Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg began working at The Daily Dispatch in the photography department in 1953; he married Lola R. Holty in Houston, Minnesota on June 22, 1957; he began his career at Deere & Company in 1958, where he worked in the advertising department, retiring in 1983; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg was an active member of First Evangelical Free Church, where he served on various boards and committees; he was also a Sunday school teacher and wedding photographer; he supported numerous charities and non-profit organizations, including Youth Hope, Camp Summit, and the Moody Bible Institute; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 25 years, Lola; his brothers, George and Richard; and his sister, Elinor Pritchard; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sandborg is survived by his sons, Thomas (Rebecca) and Scott (Chris); his brothers, Paul Sandborg (Rita) and David Sandborg; his grandchildren, Abigail Howard (Jim), Allison Mitchell (Adam), Annah Sandborg, Kirsten King, Zach King, Shane Sandborg, Alex Sandborg, Daniel Fassett, and Chandler Fassett; and his special friends, Jim and Sharron Ziel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert M. Sandborg, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Sandborg as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
