SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Victor Mercy of East Moline, who passed away on November 5, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Victor Mercy was born in East Moline to Andrew and Clara Rollins Mercy on March 20, 1921; he married Betty Terry in Kahoka, Missouri on April 11, 1942; and

WHEREAS, Victor Mercy served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division during World War II; he retired from John Deere Experimental; and

WHEREAS, Victor Mercy enjoyed woodworking; he had a great sense of humor and was always ready to help his friends and neighbors; he was a loving and devoted husband; and

WHEREAS, Victor Mercy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his son, Terry; his four brothers; and two sister; and

WHEREAS, Victor Mercy is survived by his son, Timothy (MaryEllyn) Mercy; his six grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Deopere; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Victor Mercy and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Victor Mercy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
