SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John B. Cox Sr. of Silvis, who passed
4away on November 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Cox was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to
6Verle and Mildred Masters Cox; he served in the Army Infantry
7Division for over seven years; he married Ellen Wetterstroem in
8Lawrenceburg, Indiana on September 7, 1956; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Cox worked at John Deere Harvester in East
10Moline as an R5 machine repair and maintenance mechanic for 30
11years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Cox was a member of the United Auto Workers
13Local 865; he enjoyed reading, watching TV, NASCAR, BMX racing,
14RVing, and traveling; he was a well-known national senior
15cruiser rider; and
 
16    WHEREAS, John Cox was preceded in death by his parents; his
17wife, Ellen; three infant sons; his brother, Dick; and his
18sister, Marilyn; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Cox is survived by his children, Mary (Rick)
20Franks and John Jr. (Marcia) Cox; his grandchildren, Ashley,

1Chelsea, Jared, Catlyn, and Sean; and his siblings, Bob (Bette)
2Cox, Ruth (Merle) Schlemmer, Nancy (Bill) Wallace, and Barbara
3(Walter) Inman; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6John B. Cox Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of John Cox as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
