SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William H. Ray of McHenry, who passed
4away on November 4, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Ray was born in Gleason Tennessee to
6William O. and Lela V. (Reid) Ray on January 27, 1925; he
7served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and married
8Doris Wheat in Chicago on December 19, 1953; and
 
9    WHEREAS, William Ray retired from the Continental Can
10Company after 33 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, William Ray was a member of First Baptist Church
12in McHenry; he enjoyed volunteering at Fox Point and taking
13part in their daily activities; he was also an avid Bingo
14player; and
 
15    WHEREAS, William Ray was preceded in death by his beloved
16wife of 62 years, Doris, and seven brothers and sisters; and
 
17    WHEREAS, William Ray is survived by his children, Sandra
18(Norm) Lewis and Linda (Steve) Mayer; his grandchildren, Scott
19(Stephanie) Lewis, Keri Benton, Katherine (Matthew) Simkulet,
20Matthew (Julie) Mayer, and Jeff Mayer; his

1great-grandchildren, Adam, Anna, Zachary, Eleanor, Charlotte,
2Jacob, Thaddeus, Violet, Isaac, Greyson, Amelia, Winston, and
3Benjamin; and his brother and sisters, Jerry Ray, Ruby Nell
4Hall, and Sarah Marcukaitis; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7William H. Ray, and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of William Ray as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
