SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kay Turner Derdeyn, longtime resident of
4Richmond Heights, who passed away on November 7, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kay Derdeyn was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi to
6Thomas Lester and Mary Ellen (Powell) Turner on January 16,
71935; she graduated from Carr Central High School in 1953 and
8then attended the University of Southern Mississippi; she
9earned a certificate in Secretarial Science in 1955; she
10married Eugene Derdeyn in 1957 and moved to the Chicago area,
11where she lived until his death in 1993; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Kay Derdeyn was committed to education and her
13community; she received an associate's degree from McHenry
14County College in 1986 and worked for both McHenry County and
15the Richmond Gazette; she was a member of the Richmond Village
16Board, recording secretary for the Highland Lakes (Leesburg)
17Resident Council and for the Mary Ellen Robertson Chapter of
18the Daughters of the American Revolution; she was elected
19Richmond village Clerk in 1993; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Kay Derdeyn married Walter "Wally" Schilling in
21Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1995; they later moved to Leesburg,
22Florida; and

1    WHEREAS, Kay Derdeyn was proud to become a Florida Master
2Gardener in 2003; she also served as the secretary for the
3Master Gardener Society in 2003; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Kay Derdeyn is survived by her husband, Walter;
5and her children, David (Liliana) Derdeyn and Denise (Joe Fonk)
6Derdeyn; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Kay Turner Derdeyn and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Kay Derdeyn as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
