SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Virginia Rhodus of Carlinville, who passed away on December 2, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Rhodus was born in Dayton, Ohio to Ellen Johnston on August 5, 1942; she graduated from Berea Community High School in Berea, Kentucky in 1961; she earned her associate's degree from a business college in Lexington, Kentucky and later attended Mid-Continent Baptist College in Mayfield, Kentucky; she married Ronald Rhodus in Lexington, Kentucky on March 28, 1962; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Rhodus enjoyed the pastoral ministry and served alongside her husband; she was a gifted Bible teacher and a member of Cross Church; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Rhodus enjoyed attending church, cooking for her family, and making others feel blessed and happy; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Rhodus is survived by her husband, Ronald; her mother; her daughters, Fonda (Jamie) Newton and Rhonnie (Ron) Schaaff; her son, Tim (Kathi) Rhodus; her granddaughters, Lisa North, Lorra North, Anna Rhodus, and Cassie Beckert; her grandsons, Trevor Rhodus, Andy Beckert, and Derik Beckert; and her eight great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Virgina Rhodus and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Virginia Rhodus as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
