SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Karen L. Scimeca of Woodstock, who passed away on November 19, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Karen Scimeca was born in Evanston to Robert James and Mary Ann (Burgess) Schumer on January 14, 1959; she married Timothy Scimeca on March 5, 1988; and

WHEREAS, Karen Scimeca worked as a clerk in the McHenry County Circuit Court Office in Woodstock; and

WHEREAS, Karen Scimeca enjoyed watching classic movies and reading; she had a passion for horses, whether she was out horseback riding or just watching the horses at Arlington Racetrack; she also loved spending time at Lake Michigan, where she made many memories as a child and as an adult; mostly, she enjoyed quality time with her family; and

WHEREAS, Karen Scimeca was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Robert James Schumer; and

WHEREAS, Karen Scimeca is survived by her husband of 29 years, Timothy; her mother, Mary Ann Schumer; her son, James "Jake" R. Scimeca; her daughter, Kathleen "Katie" L. Scimeca; her sister, Janet McCauley; and her stepson, Jason V. Scimeca; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Karen L. Scimeca, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Karen Scimeca as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
