SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Howard William Myers of Lakewood, who
4passed away on November 23, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Howard Myers was born in Brooklyn, New York on
6September 21, 1943; he attended the Brooklyn Polytechnic
7Institute and graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla
8with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics; he earned
9his Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Northeastern
10University in Boston; he married Sharon Ruth Stene in Elgin on
11June 4, 1966; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Howard Myers was a systems software engineer for
13many companies including Boeing, Motorola, Berkline, and the
14Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago; he loved to teach and was a
15professor of computer science at Judson College for nearly a
16decade and chairman of the computer science department; and
 
17    WHEREAS, In retirement, Howard Myers enjoyed working with
18his son, Andy, at Acorn Landscape and visiting his son, Arvy,
19in Washington, D.C.; he was an avid photographer, bird watcher,
20and Chicago Cubs fan; he loved attending his granddaughter
21Lily's hockey games and building birdhouses with his grandson,
22Oakly; and

1    WHEREAS, Howard Myers is survived by his wife of over 51
2years, Sharon; his sons, Howard Arvin "Arvy" (Kimberley) Myers
3and Andrew Carter (Jenny) Myers; his grandchildren, Lillian
4Helen and Oakly Carter Myers; and his brother-in-law, Dennis
5Carter (Carol) Stene; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Howard William Myers, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Howard Myers as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
