SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles R. Smith Sr. of Bunker Hill, who
4passed away on December 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. was born to Robert J. and Gladys
6(Moore) Smith on September 17, 1925; he was a veteran of the
7United States Army and served during World War II; he married
8Mary Crays in Arkansas; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. worked as a heavy equipment
10operator, a position from which he retired; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. was a member of the Bethlehem
12Baptist Church; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. was preceded in death by his
14parents; his wife, Mary; his children, Joy Faye Smith and
15Billie Jo Smith; his granddaughter, Carol Tolle; his brothers,
16James Smith and Norman Smith; and his sister, Betty Clark; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Charles Smith Sr. is survived by his children,
18Charlene (Steven) Baugh, Charles R. Smith Jr., and Curtis
19Smith; his grandchildren, Samantha (R.J.) Crotser, Holly
20(Justin) Wilke, Michelle (Jeffrey) Reiser, and Paige (Kyle)

1Lester; his seven great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Glenn
2Smith, Lilly Mae King, and Gladys Rose Sauerwein; therefore, be
3it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Charles R. Smith Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Charles Smith Sr. as an expression
11of our deepest sympathy.
