SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wilma S. (Slaviero) Reschke, who passed
4away on November 17, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was born in Valier on February 1,
61928 and grew up in the Roseland neighborhood of Chicago; she
7graduated from the Northwestern University School of Nursing;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was a leader in her beloved
10community of Naperville; she helped in shaping Naperville's
11schools, first as president of the school board of High School
12District 107 and then by overseeing the merger of Elementary
13School District 78 and District 107 to form District 203; she
14was president of the District 203 school board for seven years
15until she was appointed as the first female on the board of
16directors of the Bank of Naperville (later becoming Harris
17Bank); she was also a founding director of the board of the
18Bank of Fox Valley; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was the first Sister City
20Commissioner; she founded the Cancer Society (Naperville
21Chapter), helped found the Family Service League, organized a
22volunteer nursing group through Edward Hospital Auxiliary, led

1the referendum effort for Nichols Library, and served on the
2boards of DuPage Mental Health, Samaritan Interfaith, YMCA, and
3United Way; she was involved in many additional community
4causes; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke was preceded in death by her loving
6husband of 65 years, Dr. Robert L. Reschke; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Wilma Reschke is survived by her children, Susan
8(William) Gorski, Wayne (Jill) Reschke, Dean (Lynell) Reschke,
9and Keith (Sally) Reschke; her grandchildren, Jennifer
10Strobel, Jeffery (Nishi) Gorski, Jason (Mindy) Gorski, Julie
11(Jonathan) Gates, Paul (Jenna) Reschke, Kevin (Jessica)
12Reschke, Melanie Reschke, Danielle Reschke, Gretchen (Zachary)
13Lamb, Kyle (Joy) Reschke, Kent Reschke, and Kristen (Spencer)
14Brown; her great-grandchildren, Noah, Sophia, Aivry, Quentin,
15Logan, Harrison, Amy, Aneri, Jemma, and Trevor; and her sister,
16Katherine Gajownik; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Wilma S. Reschke, and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
21further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
